OpenHAB is a great software and has so many bindings, but it is not possible to create such a visualisation with it. ioBroker has 3 interesting features: Visualisation via vis, Autodetection (not UPnP devices will be detected too, of course only that supported) Multihost (You can spread the adapters/bindings over many PCs/RasPIs)

lubeda (Lubeda) May 29, 2017, 2:50pm 1 After testing openHAB, FHEM and ioBroker i recognized that all tools got something special. Every tool has its Pro and Cons. I found the most positv aspects for me in OpenHAB. But i need ioBroker for some special tasks. So why not write a binding to use iobroker as thing.

If i saw it rigth, ioBroker would need the pro version for my use case 44,99€ every year. Home Assistant needs for my use case the cloud version which costs 75 € every year. I am more searching for a solution at 10-15€ each year or better a one time lifetime payment or an device with license like the philips hue bridge (for under 100€).

Agreed, although I find OpenHAB much harder for new users, but that could just be the way my brain things about things, even the way they've named certain key components doesn't make sense in my brain sometimes but could be my way of thinking! It can hopefully only get better, especially in Home Assistants case!

Try both! christianjwaite • 2 yr. ago I used openhab for a few years before homeassistant finally got Zwave support. Openhab was fine but clunky. It's Zwave support was actually amazing but was a different thing entirely written by a guy not affiliated with the project. I found it hard to keep interested in it and I hated Java.

OpenHAB vs ioBroker?
